Repurposing Social Media Content in 5 Ways

In the game of content, it pays to work smarter, not harder!

Repurposing social media content is a great way to make your existing content work for you in more ways than one, across multiple platforms.

Creating a steady flow of new high-quality content can be a daunting task which is why repurposing content (using some or all elements of existing content) could be the solution to all your problems.

Taking a multi-channel approach (being active on several social platforms) and repurposing content across these different platforms helps to increase social reach, as your social media accounts are likely to vary in demographics.

It’s also easier than you think! Read on for our top tips…

1. Turn YouTube/ longer-form videos into Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels are a relatively new feature but are at the forefront of Instagram, positioned in the navigation bar’s middle to entice users to engage. Look at evergreen content from your YouTube channel or any other videos you have on file, find the specific highlight of the video, edit it down to 15 seconds and change the aspect ratio to 9:16.

TIP: Instagram has confirmed that content that’s visibly recycled from apps (particularly TikTok) will be less discoverable on the Reels tab.

2. Turn blog content into social media graphics

To drive traffic to a new or past blog, repurpose the blog by highlighting a key quote, tip or stat included in the piece as a graphic on social media. This offers value to the follower, creates curiosity, and leads them to click the link bio, driving traffic to your website.

3. Turn Instagram posts/blog posts into an Instagram Guide

Instagram Guides allow you to organise your past Instagram posts into a scrollable sequence to share on its own. There are three different types of guides: products, places and posts, with each being clickable back to the original Instagram post. Examples of guides include posts under a theme, compile a list of tips, sharing a brand story, providing step by step instructions or promoting causes.  Additionally, you can use a topic and copy from a blog post and repurpose it in an Instagram Guide.

4. Turn testimonials into social media content

93% of consumers say that online reviews influence their purchasing decisions. This is because people want assurances and insights from previous buyers before committing to a purchase. If you have received good testimonials and reviews about your business and its services, use this content in your social media strategy! It publicly shows your business is trusted and provides you with winning content.

5. Turn a blog post into a podcast

Look at your analytics and find the most popular blog topics and turn it into a podcast. Podcasts popularity only continues to increase and is more engaging and lively than plain text. The podcast can devel deeper into the topic with colleagues or related professionals.
